All Dynamics Explorer-1 and
Polar Imager Data Sets Available Online
Full public access to all the data from the University of Iowa cameras
on board the Dynamics Explorer-1 and the Polar spacecraft is now
available online. All the images from 10 years of operation (1981-1990)
of the original discovery instrument on the Dynamics Explorer-1, as well
as all the images available since the launch of Polar in February of
1996, are provided by the University and, more recently, by the
International Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) project personnel at the
Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The availability of these
comprehensive data sets, which include both auroral and atmospheric hole
images, is the result of many months of software efforts at The
University of Iowa and GSFC. "Interested parties are encouraged to
independently explore and analyze this extensive data base," notes
University of Iowa physicist Louis A. Frank.
